Through the Wormhole - How Did We Get Here?

Episode 5

Everywhere we look, life exists in both the most hospitable of environments and in the most extreme. Yet we have only ever found life on our planet. How did the stuff of stars come together to create life as we know it? What do we really mean by ‘life’?

And will unlocking this mystery help us find life elsewhere?

Hosted by Morgan Freeman, Through the Wormhole explores the deepest mysteries of existence — the questions that have puzzled mankind for eternity.

What are we made of? What was there before the beginning? Are we really alone? These questions have been pondered by the most brilliant minds in history.

Now, modern science may be able to provide us with answers.

It's just one more step to take a step forward into being a Type 1 civilization. I hope I get to the transformation in my lifetime, very doubtful though.

Another great episode to be rewatched, haha.

I'm not sure if it was this episode or a future one, but I recall them mentioning a certain bacteria that was able to survive in outer space. It made me wonder why don't we try and create life in outer space by putting bacteria on, say, Mars or other planets to actually get other forms of life in our solar system (and reachable so we can examine how it evolves). Of course after awhile, I realized a lot of ethical problems with that, but I think if I had the power, I'd do it anyway just to find out the life that may come to be (or not).

@Slumph
i was planning on putting an article about that but too many bloggers beat me to it! lol
also, they haven't found any life on it... yet.

when more substantial data comes out, i'll do a full cover on that.

I agree with Tal keep up the vids, but I also so some NASA vids and it showed little bacteria around the astronauts so if these simple things can live in space lets see what kind of life we can make on mars.

That video contained so many fascinating experiments. From animating the atmosphere to replicating meteor impacts. I wonder if using gunpowder does extra unnecessary damage to the results though.

Never heard about the life on Mars coming to Earth on a Meteor theory before.

That's a pretty awesome idea to think about.
